On April 4, 1989, the Swedish men's team finally conquered the Great China Ping Pong Wall. They crush China in the final of the World Table Tennis Championship. It took them ten years to get there. In the beginning they were just teenage players, went to China to understand why China was better. Prior to the 1989 World Cup, they had time to fully study Chinese playing technique. Their game has evolved, as have the group dynamics and their physical capabilities.
